This month the zine I was an intern mod and page artist for has finally released; Hunter’s Mark, a Bloodborne Anniversary Zine! I also started working on some new character designs and some commissions in the background.
Hunter’s Mark: a Bloodborne Anniversary Zine
I created a two page comic spread based on some dialogue lines from the oedon chapel dweller in the videogame Bloodborne. Since hearing those lines I just pictured so clearly how I wish my hunter could have reacted, so I figured even if you can’t respond in the game, that’s what fan content is for, right?

The full zine is available now to download for free at https://huntersmarkzine.itch.io/zine and has 170+ pages of fan artwork, writing, and digital merch! I’m so happy I got a chance to be a contributor and help out as an intern mod. There’s some really awesome stuff in here, so even if you have a passing interest in Bloodborne I think it’s really worth checking out!
New Character Design: order of the mutant bloodhunter
This month I started working on a new character design for a dungeons & dragons campaign. I decided on an order of the mutant bloodhunter who is a simic hybrid.
I envision the character being sort of a combo of two of my previous characters I want a chance to explore more- one being my character Finnigan and the other being basically my outlet for fun body horror drawings, who I have just been calling ‘The Clone’ for backstory reasons (I have a blog post about him if you wanna read about it, here’s the link, but heads up for. You know. Body horror.)
The inspiration I’m taking from my character Finnigan is more generally the concept I love of a character being a really competent, confident fighter, but absolute garbage at social interactions. I find often times when a character is portrayed as socially awkward it sort of carries over into a lot of other areas, and comes off just sort of generally as a lack of confidence in themself. But I like the idea of a character being good at fighting, and knowing they’re good at it, and that being separate from how they handle social interactions. Since those do require a very different set of skills! The one character I can remember seeing this done really well for was Farah from the show Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
Anyway, the character! I’m still debating between the names Vesper, Jericho, or Rorik. Or Roric. Or Rurik. One of those. I think right now I’m pretty settled on Rorik though. Even though I had a pretty clear idea in my head for the general shape language, I wanted to take time to figure out the color scheme and outfit design for him.

In d&d simic hybrids are elves/humans/etc have been magically fused with other life forms like animals, so I tried to include aspects of aquatic animals, mostly sharks and newts, for the design. I ended up leaning more towards shark for the tail, but for the arms tried to resemble the way newts arms get kinda broad at the end.

I’m not sure about the colors I used for the outfit, so I’ll play around with it some more. Another character of mine, Killian, has a lot of browns and golds in their color palette so I wanna try something different. I think my brain just tends to default to brown and gold for fantasy outfits.
I also made a moodboard for the character!

Winter Wallpaper
Soon it’ll be time to redecorate my website for winter! I had gone ahead and collected a few stamps and decorative graphics already, so this month all I needed to do was make my winter wallpaper.

I’ve been really enjoying redecorating the site for each season. I think I’ll probably use the same wallpaper for spring and summer, and will just change out the stamps I use, but we’ll see.
