Gonna be a very short post this time, this month was super busy with life stuff and I got hit with artblock. I just didn’t have a ton of time to really brainstorm ideas for drawing, let alone actually draw. Usually I’ll go a couple days without drawing, but this time it was over two weeks into the month that I just didn’t have the urge to draw at all. I didn’t push it though and just waited till I was in the mood to draw again, even though I was sad it had to happen now of all times with it being Artfight this month.
Making a Bandana
Thankfully even though I wasn’t drawing, the first half of the month I was slowly working on making a bandana! I bought three kinds of fabric with the plan to make two bandanas and a shirt. Working with fabric is still pretty new territory for me so thankfully I had a friend who could help me out. Until he pointed it out I hadn’t even realized I could buy bias binding, which is basically just a pre-made border that makes the process way easier. So I bought some and started sewing a border around one of the squares of fabric to make a bandana!

It definitely took me longer than I thought it would, but I’m happy with how it turned out. The stitches aren’t anything fancy, but it’ll hold, and it was cool to see my progress from beginning to end and just how much I had improved. I really enjoyed the actual process of hand sewing it, it was nice to just put on some music or a video and work on it for a few hours at a time. It was a nice simple thing to work on after a busy day.
Artfight Drawings
After over half a month had gone by, I finally got the urge to draw again and immediately dove in. At this point I was just happy I was in the mood to draw at all. I started with filling a page in my physical sketchbook of different poses and compositions to try out until I found something I liked. Also I had to rope my poor roommate into posing cause I was struggling (if you’re reading this thanks bud).
As soon as I started with the digital drawing I knew I’d probably struggle a bit- usually when it’s been a while since I’ve drawn I tend to be overly critical with my art, and overall just a bit rusty. But I was pleasantly surprised by how the piece turned out, and I’m really happy with it!
This is CenseredSinner’s character Isaac Kelly on Artfight.

I really like how the hat turned out, and the smaller gold details on the overcoat. And I’m really happy with how the lighting turned out, I’ve started to notice I really like working with dark purple and bright orange for lighting.
