For the past year I’ve gone to the same community garden just about every week. I’ll be moving away soon, and just wanted to take some time to appreciate it and share some of the photos and videos I have from my time there. Just a heads up that this post will have a lot more media files than usual, so it’ll probably be pretty slow to load.
Also I wrote this while listening to This Playlist by Nobody on Youtube, personally I think it adds to the reading experience:
The Garden
The garden itself was tucked away in the back corner of a residential complex, with a good mix of shade and sun. It had a garden shed, greenhouse, two compost bins, and three garden beds (plus two more that we built over the course of the year, though nothing has been planted in them yet.)

Animals of the Garden
Most of the animals there would be no surprise. Lots of birds, lots of insects. I once saw a woodpecker, that was pretty cool. Below are a video of a bee on a sunflower, a little round bird singing, and a blurry photo of some birds taking a dust bath.
The thing that surprised me most was just how often I would see foxes at the garden. I saw the resident fox every few weeks, at least once a month. Thankfully that gave me lots of opportunities for photos and videos. I’m assuming it’s been the same fox, though it could be multiple different ones passing through.
Recently I was delighted to find that it seems we have a mouse living under our garden shed. It was adorable. We just stood around taking photos of it for a while haha.
Flowers
I wanted to share some pictures of flowers I’d taken, I just thought they were pretty.

Other Random Stuff
Lastly I just wanted to highlight some other misc stuff from the garden.
The foxes would burry bones in the garden beds, and it became so frequent we started a bone bucket. That was pretty cool.

There was one cold morning when some of the water in the dirt had frozen into this weird pattern. It was frozen into really thin strips of ice all compacted together, it was super weird. If anyone knows that this is called please let me know.

For halloween I got to carve a pumpkin, and that was a lot of fun. It’d been a long time since I’d done that.

Well, that’s all I have to talk about. If I think of new things maybe I’ll add them in later with a note. Who knows, maybe I’ll see an even more fantastic fox before I leave and need to share the video. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the community garden, and I hope wherever I end up next I get to join another.
