Art from August 2025

[970 words, 5 min estimated read time]

This month I got back into drawing- I drew a bunch of characters, some my own original characters and/or fancharacters for media I enjoy, also some fanart for the upcoming show Knights of Guinevere. I worked on a landscape background as well, and also made some progress on my page artwork for the Bloodborne zine I’m in!

Character Drawing: Maeve

I saw a drawing by the artist miukumauk (link to their bluesky) and got inspired by the pose to draw my character Maeve! She’s a d&d character I played in the past, an air genasi, gloomstalker ranger. If you want to read a bit more about her I made a character page for her on Toyhouse.

Credit to artist miukumauk for the pose idea. Digital drawing of a character in a long dress holding a rapier sword. She stands with one arm outstretched, the other holding the sword raised across her chest. She has blue skin with light blue markings, and long white hair that floats above her. Their outfit has muted browns, greens, blues, and purples. Earth colored tones despite the air and wind theme. The background has whisps of wind blowing past her from the foreground. She looks calm, almost tired, looking in the direction her sword is pointed with an almost somber expression.

I really like how this one turned out, it has an almost etheral vibe to it I thought was really fitting for Maeve. I really like how the colors turned out too (thank you to my flatmate who recommended the turquoise background). I think her more muted color palette makes her stand out more against the background. I’ve started paying attention more to values in my art, and I think the way her face is framed by her bright white hair was nice. For the background I did some whisps of wind, I wanted to lean more into her theming with air and the wind, and I hope it came across with the background and her hair floating above her.

Scarlet Hollow ocs: Maggie + Chris

I made two more character profile drawings for my playthroughs of the videogame Scarlet Hollow. Each playthrough I pick different traits and design a character for that playthrough to explore different things in the game, and it’s been super fun!

This character’s name is Maggie, she has the “Keen Eye” and “Talk to Animals” traits. I’ve made a profile page for her on Toyhouse along with the other playthroughs I’ve done so far, but just a heads up it’ll have spoilers for the game! Here’s a link to the Toyhouse folder with the characters, and a sneak peek of her profile page below!

I also made a profile drawing for my character Chris Scarlet, who has the traits “Powerful Build” and “Street Smarts”. I don’t quite have his profile ready as of writing this, but here’s a sneak peak of it so far!

Background Wallpaper for Autumn

With the seasons changing I figured it was time to give the website a bit of a makeover! By the time this post goes up I may have already switched over to the new theme haha. I plan on designing one for winter as well and changing them alongside the seasons. For the fall/autumn themed wallpaper I drew pumpkins, acorns, and wheat.

Knights of Guinevere

A trailer for the Knights of Guinevere dropped and I am SO excited for it. Part of the promo involved them making a website for it (here’s the link), which had different versions of the character Guinevere. I love that they made a whole interactive website for it! Anyway, I decided to draw her princess design in my style!

Also here’s the trailer if you wanna check it out! It’s got the creator of The Owl House, Dana Terrace, behind it, and I’m so excited to see what she makes. I’m already loving the psychological and body horror stuff they’re playing around with.

Landscape Practice

I worked on a scifi landscape on and off throughout this month. I based the crystals coming out of the ground off of the flatirons mountains in Boulder, Colorado. I had a fun time with it, but I do forget how long landscapes take my by comparison, this one was 14+ hours.

Redoing The Amazing Digital Circus fancharacter design

Back in June I had designed a fancharacter for the Amazing Digital Circus, but when looking back on it decided to try and have another go at it. I wanted to simplify the design some more, with the intention of having this look like a design that could actually fit within the show. Granted, it’s not like you have to worry as much about complicated designs with 3d animation, but also granted this isn’t actually a design that’s ever going to be used in the show so whatever, I’ll take the learning opportunity while I can!

Here’s the more updated design I went with (just to say again the artwork on the right is not mine, I got these from the show’s wiki page, I just added them there to compare for my own sake)

And below are the new and first design passes I did.

The first thing I worked on to simplify the design was adding less stripes along the limbs and tail. Then I simplified the bits of fur floof around his cheeks and his chest. For his face I took away the cheek marks and decided not to fold the second ear over. I thought it was a cute touch, but maybe I’ll just keep it for drawings every once in a while. I made the bow a bit bulkier to draw it easier, and I was done! I kept the colors all the same since I did like my first pass with them. It was fun to redesign while thinking of animation and what would need to be simplified to make the animation process go smoother.

Working on page art for the Hunter’s Mark Zine

While I can’t share the work yet, I’ve been working on my page art for Hunter’s Mark: A Bloodborne Anniversary zine. I’m drawing a two page comic spread for it and super excited to get to share it when I’m done! If you wanna learn more about the zine here’s a link to their carrd page, and you can follow on Tumblr, Bluesky, and Twitter.
